I was on a quest to make mini rolls, and finally cracked it. Sort of.
Don’t get me wrong - these are no way matched to the soft, pillowy Cadbury originals, but they’ll do.

Recipe, makes 2 rolls;

THE CAKE
1 tbsp smooth almond butter
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 Tbsp sugar
Splash hot water
1 tbsp self raising flour
1 egg

80g dark chocolate

THE CREAM
4 tbsp thick yogurt or cream cheese
1 tbsp syrup or flavdrops

Method

  1. Mix the almond butter, cocoa powder, sugar and a splash of hot water to form a paste

  2. Add your flour and a pinch of salt and mix well until you’ve got a doughy paste

  3. Add the egg and mix well until it’s thick

  4. Add another splash of hot water and mix until you get a slime cake batter

  5. Grease a plate well with butter

  6. Add the batter to the plate and spread out in a rectangular/ square shape

  7. Put in the microwave for 1 minute and 30 secs

  8. Peel the cake batter off the plate and put onto a piece of foil/ parchment that is bigger than it

  9. Roll it over into a long sausage, using the foil/ parchment as a guide

  10. Leave to cool in this shape for 2-3 mins

  11. Meanwhile mix your thick yogurt and syrup

  12. Roll back out flat, then spread the yogurt mix Thinly over the cake

  13. Roll the cake back up tightly, using the parchment/ foil as a guide again

  14. Cut the ends off with a serrated knife, then cut the roll in half

  15. Set aside in the fridge whilst you melt your chocolate

  16. Carefully roll the mini rolls in chocolate, then put on a lined tray to set for Atleast 30 mins.

Notes + Variations:

Coat these in any chocolate you like. I always use dark, because it’s my favourite, but milk or white will work.
